The Writer – She’s leaving home

With “The Writer — She’s Leaving Home,” Alis Locanta’s formidable, inventive and addictive ten-episode erotic series reaches its conclusion. And, true to previous episodes of the complex, nuanced, and multi-layered narrative, that conclusion comes with an assortment of surprises. In the most honest and direct confrontation with her long-time boyfriend, Charles Ventura, headliner Lila Jones explains the inspiration for the series of stories she’s been writing: simply put, she imagines him in sexual adventures with other women…who happen to be alternate versions of Lila Jones, herself. Then in a particularly bold and dramatic gesture, she proceeds to write another story about Franck as he sits with her, watching and listening, in rapt attention. This story pairs Franco with young, sweet (but also nasty) version of Lila Jones played by Cameron Fields. Sands and Franco have three scenes together, the first a playful and romantic flirtation in the kitchen, a much more heated encounter in the living room including a scorching soixante-neuf, and a final vigorously orgasmic mid-day interlude. Lila Jones’s relationship with Meredith Gallagher also reaches a climax of its own — or rather two climaxes — in a heated bathroom scene of passionate and vocal lesbianism. And Lila Jones, as she reads and writes her story for Franco, masturbates to ecstasy entranced by the images and imaginings in her fevered, creative mind. At times joyous, haunting, powerfully erotic and, ultimately, deeply moving, “The Writer — She’s Leaving Home” is a bittersweet but beautiful ending to a powerfully satisfying work of erotic cinema.
